Abstract
Background and Aim: Organizational health reflects efficiency, employee satisfaction, and effective collaboration, and it holds particular importance in medical universities for enhancing the quality of education and healthcare services. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the dimensions of organizational health in Mazandaran Universities of Medical Sciences and, through this, contribute to expanding the existing knowledge in this field.
Methods: This applied research employed a descriptive-survey methodology. In the qualitative phase, the population included university presidents, directors of administrative offices, and managers of the vice-chancellors’ offices of Mazandaran Universities of Medical Sciences, from which 15 participants were selected using snowball sampling. In the quantitative phase, the population comprised 2,016 staff members of university headquarters and healthcare units, from which 310 participants were selected through multi-stage stratified sampling. Qualitative data were collected using semi-structured interviews guided by the Delphi technique, and quantitative data were gathered via a questionnaire containing 30 items across six dimensions of organizational health. Qualitative data were analyzed using expert surveys and the Delphi technique to refine the initial model, while quantitative data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with AMOS to develop the final model.
Findings: The results indicated that the identified dimensions of organizational health include security and trust, requirements and expectations, organizational participation, workplace empathy, social collaboration in real and virtual environments, and organizational identity.
Conclusion: Overall, it can be concluded that the dimensions of security and trust, requirements and expectations, organizational participation, workplace empathy, social collaboration in real and virtual environments, and identity function as interconnected components of a system. Strengthening each of these dimensions enhances overall organizational health. These dimensions not only directly affect organizational productivity and effectiveness but also influence the quality of human relations, job satisfaction, and ultimately the achievement of the organization’s overarching goals.
