The Effect of P.N.F Exercises with Creatine on the Range of Motion and Strength of Hip Extensor Muscles in Non-Athlete Men

Abstract
Introduction and Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) exercises combined with creatine supplementation on the range of motion and strength of the hip extensor muscles in non-athletic men.
Methods: For this purpose, 24 healthy non-athletic men aged 22 to 25 years participated in the study and underwent a pre-test. Data collection instruments included a dynamometer to measure the strength of the hip extensor muscles and a digital inclinometer to assess flexibility. Based on the pre-test data, participants were homogenized and randomly assigned into two training groups of 12 subjects each. The first group performed PNF exercises with creatine monohydrate supplementation, while the second group performed PNF exercises with a placebo (dextrose). The training program consisted of five sessions per week (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) for one month. After one month, a post-test was conducted. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16. Independent t-tests were applied to compare groups, and paired t-tests were used to examine within-group changes over time, with the significance level set at p ≤ 0.05.
Findings: Results of the independent t-test showed that muscular strength and range of motion in the group performing PNF exercises with creatine monohydrate supplementation were significantly greater than those in the control group.
Conclusion: Overall, it can be concluded that creatine supplementation combined with PNF exercises enhances range of motion and muscular strength.
