Abstract
Introduction and Aim: In the face of rapid technological changes and increased environmental pressures, the Iranian Institute of Nutrition and Food Industries Research needs leaders who can manage individual development, organizational capabilities, and environmental changes simultaneously. Accordingly, this study aimed to identify the drivers of green leadership that are effective in promoting organizational sustainable development in the Iranian Institute of Nutrition and Food Industries Research.
Method: From the perspective of its aim, this research is applied; and from the standpoint of its nature, it adopts an exploratory mixed-methods approach (qualitative–quantitative). In the qualitative phase, using thematic analysis based on the framework of Braun and Clarke (2006), semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 academic and organizational experts familiar with green leadership, sustainable development, and digital transformation. In the quantitative phase, data were collected from 203 employees of the institute using a Likert five-point questionnaire administered through random sampling. The validity and reliability of the instruments were confirmed through appropriate analytical methods. Data were analyzed, respectively, using thematic analysis and confirmatory factor analysis with LISREL software.
Findings: The results indicated that the components of organizational resources, environmental factors, and leaders’ individual competencies play an important role in establishing and developing green leadership in the digital age within the Iranian Institute of Nutrition and Food Industries Research.
Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that the formation and sustainability of green leadership in this organization require synergy among organizational resources, environmental factors, and leaders’ individual competencies. Based on the results, addressing these factors simultaneously can substantially contribute to enhancing organizational sustainable development and strengthen the institute’s role as a national model in the field of nutrition and food industries.
